#1 – Don’t forget to make life surprising from time to time.
A little extra special effort on an ordinary day makes a big difference for a long time in the relationship between a couple. For example, if your partner comes to breakfast and finds an I-Love-You note on the refrigerator door – or even better, a photo of the two of you AND a note – the rest of the day is surely going to be better.
# 2 – Flowers say a lot without words. Don’t reserve flowers for special occasions.
Their beauty, delicacy, and scent can convey, in the sweetest way, anything from “You’re the best thing that ever happened to me” to “I was thinking of you today” to “I’m sorry.” Still life Painters have known this for ages … and so do photographers. In fact, after a proposal, a bouquet of flowers, or even a single rose, completes the romantic moment in the most heartfelt way.
#3 – Be generous with compliments.
No matter how long you have been together, keep the romance alive with a few sweet words from time to time. Concentrate on the positive. Everyone feels better when told “you look nice today” or that “I couldn’t have done it without you”, whatever ‘it’ is.
#4 – And speaking of words …
Remember the conversations you had when you first met? Naturally, they were mostly about yourselves, as you were getting to know each other. Now that you do, though, you’ll want to keep conversation alive. Be imaginative and turn ordinary incidents into amusing anecdotes. The seemingly ‘insignificant’ moments of your everyday life might delight your partner once you’ve put your personal twist on them. Take a mental photograph (or a real one, if convenient) of whatever might spur interest or bring forth a laugh in those precious together hours.
#5 – Just hang out together
When two lucky individuals become a team, they inevitably end up with decisions to make and problems to solve. Keep tenderness alive no matter what pops up to be dealt with by going to appealing places and just being together. A park, a beach, a street-side café, or a remote town square with a fountain in its middle may not be exactly a Caribbean vacation, but all are perfect for holding hands and looking into each other’s eyes.
