A Pre-wedding photographer’s obligation is to record it all! And by ‘all’ I mean not just the way the couple looks, but the way they look at each other. The camera is able to go below the surface to reveal the depth of feeling that lies inside and turn the sparks of chemistry that bind lovers together into veritable portraits of love.
The fact if that true love is unbound. It lies both below and on the surface. It is always there, shining in the foreground no matter what the choice of pre-wedding background has been. The often-repeated axiom that the eyes are the windows of the soul may be true, for when lovers’ eyes meet, the communion of two souls is immediate, electric, even explosive. It is an explosion so powerful that, to the watchful eye, it unveils itself in the open. Herein lies the magic of the pre-wedding session – to capture that radiant moment.
Of course, every couple is different, each with their own idiosyncrasies and ways of interacting with each other during the pre-wedding session. However, they all have one thing in common, that special glow encircling them when they are together. Their smiles are brighter; their shared joy over unexpected pleasant discoveries is more intense; their tenderness toward each other lights up their world … and everyone else’s.
Poets try to express the essence of love in well-chosen words of rhyme and rhythm. Musicians render love in melodies that move listeners to tears. Painters of all styles portray the loves of their lives in pose after pose. Pre-wedding photos, however, seize the little things that make love grand and great by catching the subtleties of gesture that expose the invisible poetry and interior music filling the hearts of the lovers.
“There is a comfort in the strength of love”
wrote William Wordsworth. Indeed there is! And there is everything else that counts, as well. To paraphrase Shakespeare, we might doubt that the existence of the stars or the sun, but no one can doubt the gleaming dazzle of love.
